Decluttering the Coat Closet has been on my mind lately because I am "Sick and Tired" of coats, shoes, back packs all over the place and I would like one contain area. My coat closet looks like a wild jungle and it needs to me tamed ASAP! I need a system that is going to work well, be efficient and effective.
First, I decided how I wanted the space to be organize and what purpose I wanted to gain after it is organized. I wanted my front closet to house back packs, extra shoes, coats, some decorating items and space for guest to hang their coats.
Next, I removed everything from the closet and hung up only 10 times the rest went into long term storage for the next season or was donated. The 10 items include extra seasonal coats, back packs and extra hangers for guest to hang coats.
Now vacuum all the debris up and wipe down your space with a multi- purpose cleaner.
When I place everything back into the closet I did not stuff or squeeze items into the space. I only fill the space with items that were intended for the space in which I was organizing.
Organize by function and simplicity.
I bought Dollar Tree Basket to house smaller items such as shoe polish, vases, candles, etc.
I used one of the Dollar Tree Baskets to put some technology things in as well.
My Front Closet houses candles, decorations and my vases so I use the Dollar Tree baskets to coral these items.
The bottom of the closet floor was a goal of mine to be able to store our shoes, karaoke machine and with this organization project I was able to store almost everything plus have tons of space available to move things around properly.
