Hey Everyone, well it is time to deep clean my bathroom as much as I hate it, it needed to be done. I live in a climate that has low water table so mold is a pain because it is consist and something I am always fighting with. Now matter how I treat the mold it comes back; I have treated it with bleach (which I hate because it is so toxic) and peroxide but, it is one of the task that you must stay on top of or it will be a destructive.
1st thing I remove all area rug and give the a good shake and wash. I only buy white rugs so this is a challenge and can be conquer with bleach or peroxide.
2nd It is easy to neglect your shower head and that it needs to be cleaned at least once a year. Now it is time to clean the shower head. I took a large zip lock bag and fill it with vinegar and 25 drops of lemon essential oil. I then took the bag and rubber band it to the shower head and let it sit over night; this process will remove any mold or long term build up.
3rd and 4th Once of the my least favorite parts is cleaning is the Shower Walls, Doors and Bathtub. The best strategy I found to prevent soap scum, dirt and build up is to stay on top of cleaning this area daily.
For the Bath Tub I use a DIY Ajax cleaner and let sit for 1 hour and rinse and repeated if necessary. I hate using Ajax cleaner I feel they are harsh for my bath tub and sinks and not to mention very toxic. I created this cleaner to clean like Ajax’s but, not fearing chemicals and scratch marks. Also, I add a few drops of Lavender Essential Oil to the cleaner because it smells great and is very calming.
Ingredients:
- Container label with your cleaner
- measuring spoons and spoons
- 2 cups baking soda
- ½ cup borax
- 20 drops of lavender/lemon Essential Oil (optional)
For the shower I use a DIY shower spray and a whole lot of elbow grease!
Here is what you will need:
2 -3 teaspoons of borax
1 teaspoon of liquid castile soap
3/4 cup of white vinegar
3 cups of boiling water
First, in a spray bottle add all ingredients. Next, shake to mix all the ingredients together. Finally, spray on all tile and bath/shower surfaces. For my shower doors I deep cleaned using this DIY! For this DIY I took a dry cloth and add a few drops of lemon essential oil and wipe shower doors twice a month to protect against soap scum.
5th Finally, I save the best for last the Toilet ~I used a home made cleaner and scrub the heck out of my toilet (s)!
What you need—
- toilet brush
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 10-12 drops of tea-tree essential oil
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
