How to Create the Perfect Diet

Well, it is the New Year; resolutions and goals are being made and often diets are on the list!  Everyone is striving to find the perfect diet and one that works.  A diet that one can commit to with no strings attached.  Some strive to deprive themselves, become vegan/vegetarian, Paleo, Atkins, etc.  There are many things to consider when you find the perfect diet and that is to understand who you are such as gender, age, culture.

First, think about this there is NO PERFECT DIET!  Think about it this way, if I told you to listen to this music, watch this movie or cut your hair how I like it you would hate it.  You have your own wants, needs and desires.  Understand this what works for me may not work for you.  However, there is hope here are some things to ponder when choose your meals and what you put in your mouth.

1.)  First, what Gender, Age and Culture are you?  Men and Woman eat differently what may work for a woman may not necessary work for a man.  Your age can play a role in your diet chooses as well, people eat different at varies stages in their life.  Also, Culture is what you are made of of, it is your genetic predisposition to eat food from the country where your ancestors are from.   Talk with our doctor, dietitian and/or health coach to determine a healthy weight for your lifestyle.

2.)  Next, take a deep look at what you eat on a daily basis, this is good time to keep track of what you eat.  I believe the perfect diet is the diet you already have but, with some adjustments.  Fruit and Vegetables should be the center of all your meals and snacking.  For example for breakfast with your pancakes use fresh fruit instead of syrup, lunch have a salad and baked potatoes and with dinner eat saute vegetables with your meat of choice.  When eating; eat slow taste your food.  Put your knife and fork down after every 3-4 bites and make the meal last 25 minutes.  Finally, when eating dessert take a slice of pie not 2 and before grabbing a second helping of anything wait 20 minutes you often will realize you do not need it or desire it!

3.)  Remember throughout the day to choose wisely on beverages.  Drink water verses sugary drinks such as soda.  If I get sick of water I drink Lacroix or Tea's flavored with honey or lemon.
