Coaching is a Hard Job, and should not be taken lightly!

It has been a roller coaster ride for baseball these past 4 years and it is coming to a close-  my son loves the game not only as a player but, as a spectator.  This past year of travel baseball we have made great friendships, learned a lot and realize, good coaching is hard to come by.  This has been hard to watch as a parent.  As a parent we want the very best for our children we want them to reach their full potential whatever that that may be.  When we decided to put my son on a travel team we wanted him to reach his purpose in every avenue and play with some amazing players and be coached by coaches that can "pull the best out of him".  This last year and years in the past I have seen my son's be contained in his abilities and it is heart wrenching as a mother to watch.  As a mother I try to stay humble and never question a coach but, this year we have decided to walk away and find someone else to coach my son.

It has been a hard decision because in no way shape is it a result of friends we made and some of the coaching he has endure.

To be a coach is a huge responsibility and not to take lightly.  A coach is there to bring out the best in a player. Coaches need to encourage, inspire and help create a transformative growth within the player.  A coach needs to research not only their players behavior but, the teams they are playing against.  Coaches need to have faith in their players and be interested in them.

Coaches and players work together to set and reach goals together.  The players need to have a safe, supportive environment along with trust and respect.  The coach needs to fill present, confident and flexible while coaching the player.

Communication is essential when coaching a player, it needs to be clear and direct but, confaded in a positive way.

A plan needs to be set with the team and player on achieving their goals.  While achieving goals the coach needs to portray what is important and the players needs to feel responsible and want to take action!  Coaches help players to identify strength and areas of growth.  Coaches are there to help players to stay on track with goals and actions.

This season has ended and a new adventure will begin, I pray and hope we find the best choice for my son that will help him to reach his goals, is happy and learns a lot in the end.  We are nervous, scare  and excited to experience what the 2016/2017 season brings.
